Christie’s tenacity helped him block the Bulls’ shooting guard. He couldn’t get a good shot. The play earned Michael’s respect.
Despite Christie’s best efforts, Mike ended up scoring 36. But there’s a side to the story that helped Doug realize that he earned Mike’s respect.
The Raptors shooting guard wanted to get an autograph for his two-year-old daughter. Not knowing if he would make it or not. He still went ahead and asked for it. To his surprise, MJ happily obliged. To him, this was a sign that she had earned his respect.
