Pakistan have set 309-run target for West Indies in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) at Abu Dhabi with the help of two centuries scored by Babar Azam and Azhar Ali.

Babar Azam became the third Pakistan player – and eighth overall – to score three consecutive ODI centuries as he top-scored with a 106-ball 117 in Pakistan’s 308 for 6. He put on a run-a-ball 147 for the second wicket with captain Azhar Ali, who scored a century of his own to become the only Pakistan player to score three hundreds as ODI captain.

Babar Azam knocked his third consecutive hundred as Pakistan piled up 308-6 in the final one-day international against West Indies in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Azam’s 106-ball 117 and skipper Azhar Ali´s 109-ball 101 added 147 runs for the second wicket to lead Pakistan’s charge after they won the toss and opted to bat on a batting pitch at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Pakistan are eyeing a clean sweep in the three-match series after winning the first two matches by 111 and 59 runs – both in Sharjah.

Pakistan, desperate to boost their ODI rankings and buoyed by consecutive wins, see today’s third and final ODI as a must-win encounter.

Despite having sealed the series 2-0 with comprehensive victories in Sharjah, Pakistan are going all out for another win to ensure a 3-0 whitewash, a result which will give their hopes of earning direct qualification to World Cup 2019 a big boost.

At the moment, Pakistan are trailing at a dismal number nine in the ODI rankings and need to finish among the top-eight by September 30 next year to avoid the ignominy of playing in the qualification round for the next World Cup to be held in England.

A clean sweep in the series will take Pakistan ahead of the eighth-placed West Indies.
