Maulana Aurangzaib Farooqi injured in Karachi firing

KARACHI: Maulana Aurangzaib Farooqi, leader of Ahle-e-Sunnat Jamaat, was injured while his three guards and a driver were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on his vehicle in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

According to details, armed miscreants opened fire on Farooqui’s vehicle near Moti Mehal in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, killing his three guards and a driver on the spot, while he sustained bullet injuries.

At least 15 attackers riding on six motorcycles and a car carried out the attack, they added.

The bodies and injured have been shifted to a local hospital in the city.

The witnesses said that the cross firing between the guards and the attackers continued for almost 15 minutes.

Ahl-e-Sunnat leader Taj Muhammad Hanfi has confirmed the killing of guards and driver and said the condition of Farooqui is stable.

Panic has gripped the city after the incident with unidentified men torching vehicles and opening fire in different parts of the metropolitan.
